Maui Steel Guitar Festival

2022 Festival Information

The 2022 Festival will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at the Shops at Wailea, and on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center in Kahului. The 2022 festival will be a condensed version of prior festivals and include only ho‘olaule‘a concert performances and a hands-on steel guitar experience. School visitations, Open stage performances, workshops, kanikapila jam sessions, and the vintage steel guitar exhibit will return in 2023.

The Shops At Wailea Festival

The 2022 festival will feature O‘ahu steel guitarists Alan Akaka, Bobby Ingano, Greg Sardinha, Joseph Zayac, and Maui steel guitarists Geronimo "Geri" Valdriz, Konapiliahi Lau, and Joel Katz. NextGen keiki steel guitarists Mālie Lyman, Joey Misailidis and Tai Misailidis will also perform. Hands-on opportunities for festival guests will also be offered.

The 2020 festival was planned for this location but was paused due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Due to venue limitations, Open Stage performances, workshops, the steel guitar exhibit, and public kanikapila jam sessions will not be offered.

The festival will be livestreamed on the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Showcase's Facebook Page and archived there for future viewing.

The Queen Ka‘ahamanu Center Festival

The 2022 festival program will be identical to the program offered at The Shops At Wailea and feature the same lineup of steel guitarists.
