Duane Becker was born and raised in Spokane, Washington. He started playing the steel guitar professionally in 1968. Duane has traveled throughout the United States and Canada playing fairs and festivals with many country and western groups. He has appeared on PBS, NPR radio, TNN's Prime Time Country, CMT, and as a regular guest on WSM's Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.
Duane's first love is Hawaiian music. Over the years he has collected an extensive Hawaiian music library on vinyl, including 78's and LP records. He also has a collection of memorabilia and recordings of the Webley Edwards "Hawaii Calls" radio show.
