Eric K. Keawe
Eric Kaleolani Keawe is the 11th child of Aunty Genoa Keawe. He is the president of Genoa Keawe Records, Inc., and manages Keawe Ohana at a venue in Waikiki. Eric is also a Financial Service Professional.
Eric is the father of Pomaika'i Lyman and grandfather of Malie Lyman. His musical talents includes playing the guitar and ukulele. On occasion he also enjoys playing the Hawaiian steel guitar. He enjoys playing Hawaiian music with family and friends.
When Eric was 6 years old he learned to play the steel guitar from Uncle Benny Rogers. He learned songs E Lili'u E, Alika and Blue Hawaiian Moonlight. At age 12 he started steel guitar lessons with Jerry Byrd. Eric was one of Jerry's first students learning the steel guitar. Unfortunately, other priorities prevented Eric from completing the course, a decision he now regrets.
Today his 1st grandchild Malie Lyman is doing an excellent job singing and playing the steel guitar. Mahalo to Kumu Alan Akaka, a good friend and hanai brother for teaching my granddaughter.
