Tony Locke (Austin, Texas)

Tony Locke Tony Locke started playing steel guitar in 1999. He was drawn to it after hearing Jerry Byrd's steel guitar playing with Hank Williams Sr. After wondering who influenced Jerry Byrd's playing, Tony dug a little deeper and found it was Hawaiian steel guitar players such as Dick McIntire, Jules Ah See, David Keli'i who directly influenced Byrd, as well as many other mainland steel guitar players.
Tony instantly fell in love with the Hawaiian style of steel guitar and has been studying it ever since. He considers himself a lifelong student of the Hawaiian steel guitar and feels it is a privilage to study, play and help perpetuate the traditional sounds of the Hawaiian steel guitar.
Tony has played and recorded with Wayne Hancock and Combo Mahalo.
